A custom Vertex with a uniquely sculptural faceted shell and bespoke finish, created for the Waldorf Astoria, a luxury hotel.
Vertex in Costa Rica: About the project
Perched cliffside on the Punta Cacique peninsula, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the brand-new Waldorf Astoria luxury hotel in Costa Rica sits as a vertical village that blends into its surrounding landscape.
A network of multi-level pools culminate in a designated slide pool, designed to keep their most discerning small guests happy!
The completely custom pool design for the incredible hotel was inspired by the asymmetric pool edges of the many different silhouettes. We embellished upon these shapes to create a three-dimensional translation of the aerial views with a multi-faceted outside shell to reflect the pool architecture.
The custom finish echoes the palette of the hotel, grounded and earthy, to allow the stylised organic aesthetic to blend with the environment over time.

Custom Vertex dimensions: W120 x H260 (cm) | W3’11” H8’6″ (ft + in).
Key features: Right-hand turn.
Material of the slide: 316L marine-grade stainless steel with custom finish applied on site.
Special considerations for the project
With the slide designed to sit on a stone platform, we modified the steps to shorten the ladder.
We also designed a less steeply angled exit, so that we could accommodate a splash pool with a shallower depth.
