About the project
Situated on Manasota Key, a tranquil 11-mile barrier island on Florida’s Gulf Coast, this home embodies the beach-side living dream.
Splinterworks created a custom Vertex slide for this pool as there were many factors to consider in the design. The second floor balcony cantilevered over the pool deck, so we needed to situate the slide with enough clearance of the balcony. Additionally, a swim counter-current jet system in the centre of the pool needed to be considered with relation to the splash-down-zone of the slide.
Our flagship Vertex slide was customised to accommodate these practicalities, and stands like a beacon on the beautiful beach.

Special considerations
Initially delivery was planned via the water utilising a barge, however, Manasota Key, Florida, is a crucial nesting spot for threatened sea turtles – primarily Loggerheads, but also Greens and Kemp’s Ridleys.
With nesting season from May to October, and strict protections in place to ensure survival of these incredible creatures, we needed to reschedule delivery via land. This meant the slide was transported through the narrow gap down the side of the building to its final destination.
