A statement piece for an adventurous client
Our clients for Globe Dime travel the oceans extensively on their extraordinary yacht, Explorer, for most of the year.
The brief was to customise our popular Dime cabinet to reflect this love of travel, and to complement the beautiful and luxurious interior of their 63.7m yacht.
To reflect their love of travel, we chose to re-design Dime to show a map in relief. We made the countries low and smooth, and the sea high and textured, to create an unexpected and tactile contrast.
When they are travelling, Globe Dime provides our clients with a subtle reminder of where they are in the world, and how far they have travelled from their home in Fort Lauderdale, which lies in the centre of the cabinet.
Mounted with mirror that runs around and inside the drinks cabinet, it gives the illusion that the cabinet is a floating, spherical globe.
