Original design on two levels
This London townhouse was an ambitious project. It required masterful space planning, in what was a very challenging space set over two levels. The contemporary kitchen included subtle detailing and highlights of functional sculpture.

A palette of crisp white, soft grey and warm oak
The clients’ desire was to be very modern, but with an inviting homeliness that is lacking in many minimal designs.
We used a palette of materials that balances the warm texture of oak with crisp white Corian, and the soft tone of grey quartz, with the harder glint of stainless steel.

Unification of space
We started by studying the lines of sight through the building to ensure the best possible connection between the kitchen, dining table and living area whilst maintaining views out across the mature garden. This achieved by creating a peninsula kitchen that protrudes out into the living area on a plinth, which we curved to soften its impact on the space.

Creative details
The palette was layered to allow the oak to punctuate the predominately white fascia of Corian at the plinths and in the handles, where we peeled the Corian back to reveal the oak laminates of the door.
